Arranged to have some free time this morning. Wanted to hit a lake I haven't gotten to this season. Called up The Quadfather and set the time at 7am. Sure enough, he gets to my place and work calls - little delay on our early start. We finally got to the lake around 8:30. Pretty quiet for about an hour, then was casting to a floating dock, a dink took my 6" watermelon/black flake senco and ran. I repositioned my worm and hit the same spot again. This time I let him take it for a few seconds, then swung. Only when I swung, it was like I snagged the dock, and it was running away. Took a little while and it spun my little pontoon around once or twice but I got it in. Weighed in at 5lb 10oz. My PB. Ended up catching on more dink on the senko and 3 between 2 & 3lbs on a white spinnerbait. Unfortuneately Quad didn't have the luck I did. Next time Quad, next time! Overcast, 60's outside, light rain off & on, water was REALLY stained. If could have made this a 5 star day I would have, but the only option is 3 stars for a secret lake. And when I was let in on the bass potential in this lake I was swarn to secrecy.

Went to a pond not to far from my house today just outside of Bothell. Tried a different spot than i normally fish and had quite a it of good luck! Caught around 15 fish both bluegil and largemouth. Theyre pretty fiesty fish for their size! I was using just a bobber and a worm. All fish were released unharmed. Pretty good day!

I'd been pursuing my nemesis for many years now, and finally the day came when he was in my sights. The beast put quite a scare into my group, almost grabbing and taking away a member of our expedition. Fortunately the skipper turned the boat just in time to avoid the young lads untimely demise.

We cast out large steaks and layed a scent line which brought the big guy in close. I felt the "tap tap" and then it was "FISH ON!" A monumental battle, but ultimately the beast was no match for my fishing skills. The only down side is I had to buy another three freezers to store all those fresh shark steaks, yum!

Not really a "secret" lake, I was at the larger of the two ponds (Shadow ?) at the Thomas Eddy public access site off the Snohomish river. I'd heard there were some bass in there, so I took my float tube down to give it a shot. Only stayed about 1-1/2 hrs, caught/released a half dozen small bass and one very small perch. Didn't know what to expect, so I took a sink tip line and fished buggers along the weeds. VERY weedy lake, should have taken a floating line and some poppers and some dry flies instead. I'd definitely give it a shot again with different gear. Saw a couple of large groups (100's) of fry, lots of bug life, so my guess is that there is a decent population of fish in there. A fun morning.

Caught a 15.5" and a 16.5" SMB. Caught them on a olive bugger with palmered olive grizzly hackle. Looks a lot like perch/bass minnow in the water. I missed one about the same size that ripped a deer hair frog with rubber band legs that I tied off my line. The frog legs look really cool when they kick. The (length)X(Girth squared)/ 800 equation puts them at 4 and 3.5 pounds.
The biggest fish I've ever caught.
Really cool.

Fished my spot again today. It rained, it poured, and then it poured even harder. Fished for probably around 3 hours and managed a few more kokanee in the size class of "excellent". Ran my typical wedding ring/dodger combo on the downrigger from 15-25' down trolling from 1.2-1.7 mph. Lovely day on the water, although my dogs absolutely hated the rain, haha!

The fish of a lifetime. I wasnt on the lake more than 15 minutes when i hooked this pig. I didnt have a scale with me but i did take measurements that were 23inches long and the girth was 20inches. The fish calculater says it was 8lbs. 13oz. I snapped many pics of the fish before letting her go. I got this fish in one of the half dozen lakes in federal way. Urban fishing at its finest. I would say what lake i got her in but the lake cant take the pressure. I caught her on a booyah spinnerbait up shallow in about 3 feet of water. I saw the fish strike it but didnt think it was going to be that big until i got her to the boat. When i was trying to lip her to get her in the boat i was shaking like a leaf. This fish might be the record for this lake. I was thinking of keeping this fish and getting it mounted but i feel better letting her go to live the rest of her life in the lake. She most likely is on her last year of life. I have been fishing all my life and just started bass fishing last year. Im a salmon/steelhead guy that started bass fishing last year and i have got 3 bass over 6 and half pounds now with numerous ones 3 to 5 pounds. Not bad for a rookie bass fisherman. I am still freakin out about that fish, biggest bass i have ever seen.
